About Revival Custom Homes

Revival Custom Homes is an Orono based residential real estate development company revitalizing high potential properties and building new in great locations. Because of a unique sense for high potential properties with timeless roots and a gift for visionary design, our homes offer more value than most alternatives.

Revival Custom Homes offer the opportunity of a lifetime in a custom home, carefully crafted with meticulous plans and exclusive design concepts. Our homes are well balanced and offer visually engaging spaces to dwell and gather.

Our Founder
Meet Matt

Revival Custom Homes was founded by Matt Mukomela. Originally from Marshall, MN, his first job was on his cousin’s farm picking rocks, baling hay, and pulling weeds in the bean fields. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Economics & Business, and later earned an MBA in Marketing from Southwest Minnesota State University.

After a vibrant career working in development for large corporations, Matt founded Revival Custom Homes out of a passion for creating generational homes in the community where he lives and works. Renovating his own homes and a graduate school project helped spark the idea for Revival Custom Homes. The confluence of having a bold vision, working hard to achieve it, and seeing it through to satisfying completion is an opportunity that every custom home project presents.

Matt believes it takes a strong team to build an exceptional home, which is why the company’s network of experienced local contractors—who share a passion for hard work and creating uniquely exceptional homes—serve as the heartbeat of the organization.

Our Process
Unique Properties - The Revival Advantage

Our process starts with Timeless Roots.
We complete extensive research on each potential property. We hold a high standard when it comes to location, setting, and due diligence. We assess everything that can impact the owner’s experience on the property: proximity to schools and attractions, views by season, tree cover, sunlight (Summer and Winter Solstice), ambient noise, proximity to neighbors, distance from roadway, and more. All of these factors contribute to the strategic vision for the end product that begins to take shape in this early stage.

Once we select a property, Visionary Design takes over.

Visionary Design

Our design process is broken into three phases: planning, building, and finishing.

The Planning Phase

Once we’ve acquired a property with Timeless Roots, the extensive process of illustrating the vision and detailing it into a plan begins. The goal during this phase is a balance between form and function. The home must use every square foot of the space functionally, and simultaneously create visually interesting and inviting views and spaces. Attention to detail is critical, assessing everything that can impact the owner’s experience while ensuring full code compliance. Entryway usability, window placement, natural lighting, kitchen layout, seating groups, furniture placement, hallway width, workflow efficiency, ergonomics and more are all factored into the design and layout of the home.

The Building Phase

Bringing the vision to life and building with lasting quality are key tenants of the construction phase. Lasting quality requires both selecting quality materials like Anderson®, Pella®, or Marvin® windows, and building with quality craftsmanship to get it right.

The Finishing Phase

The finish supports the vision from the start. From all-new electrical and high-efficiency HVAC systems to dove-tail and full extension cabinet drawers, premium appliances, and spa-like bathrooms, this is when the vision and quality can be seen firsthand. We select trustworthy products and brands that enhance the owner’s experience and make the pride of ownership complete.
